Colleen Toumayan

Deputy Project Director

She/Her

Colleen’s grassroots advocacy began at university, where she interned for Amnesty International. Later, in grad school, she taught English in Wuxi, China. Amidst the post-Tiananmen Square riots, Colleen gained a firsthand understanding of the critical need to safeguard democracy. Her experiences and educational background in Political Science and International relations fueled her passion for social justice.
Drawing upon her background in communication, Colleen actively participates in community activism, advocating for positive change, and as the VP of her neighborhood council for local issues. She founded her own marketing and PR firm but redirected her career towards social justice and advocacy, recognizing the imperative of meaningful impact.
Colleen left the corporate world and her firm to contribute to a presidential primary and later to serve as National Communications Director for Rideshare2Vote, fighting against voter suppression. She is thrilled and excited to be back with the Outreach Team after her previous stint in 2020. Colleen lives in Granada Hills, California, with her family, dog, and three cats. When she is not working, she is swimming and enjoying LA vegan restaurants.
